To be honest, this was a cute book, and a fast read. Technically speaking, the writing was clean, easy to follow, grammatically correct (with the exception of one missed word I found), and never made me feel that it was dragging, or being rushed. I liked it. This was your typical teen romance story where the main characters made a lot of stupid, impulsive mistakes, and spent the book sorting out their drama-filled issues.However, despite the appeal of the narrative from a technical standpoint, or how adorable the love story was, there were certainly some issues that cropped up that made me rate this at 3 stars rather than a 4 or 5. The biggest problem I had with this story was that it was horrendously cliché. Watch any teen romance movie, and you’ve practically read this story; Boy and Girl from two different clique’s, living next to each other, used to be best friends, start to fall in love after years of estrangement—after having come to an agreement that they would pretend to be boyfriend/girlfriend for awhile… thus saving one teen’s reputation, and preventing the other from a messier, more clingy relationship. Don’t forget the date-raping jock. We’ve all heard this story. It’s old, and used, and left nothing to surprise me. It even has one of those moments where the guy in a rock band hops down off the stage to sing to the girl he loves at the end. (Sorry, spoilers.. but if you haven’t seen this a million times before in other teen romances… shame on you.)
To make matters worse, the characters have ridiculous trendy names (like Ashton, Blaze, Kance, and Luca… Ashton is a girl by the way, I know, it threw me off too), and there are almost no redeeming qualities about the main female lead at all. She’s snobby, mean-spirited, and a bully. Luca, the male lead isn’t much better… he may be a teen, but he’s already been sleeping with a ton of girls, and seems to be your typical emo stereotype, complete with eyeliner and tattoos. Le sigh.
The story that ensues is a predictable mish-mosh of over dramatic teen angst that comes off as a little too familiar to be comfortable. Did I like it? Yah. It was an all right story. It was cute, as I said… but it certainly wasn’t genre-breaking. To be frank, the two main characters were both written like girls, and had a very similar voice, with the exception that Luca’s head seemed to constantly be sizing up how “hot” Ashton was in one form or another (okay, maybe Ashton did the same to Luca…). They didn’t seem real to me, but instead, like the plot, stereotypes of a very narrow view of teenage girls/boys. I wish the author had spent more type filling out these characters, and perhaps, finding a more original plot.
Would I recommend it? Sure. It’s 99 cents on Amazon right now, and to be fair, it is an adorable story. If you like teen romance stories, you’ll be comfortable with this one. It’s cute. Just don’t expect to get anything spectacular out of it, you’ve probably read it before.

I read this book in one day. It made my ridiculously long train ride incredibly short )
At first I didn't like either of the MCs. They were just so mean to each other. I was worried that the entire book would be like that, but something intrigued me and so I read on. Man, I'm SO glad I did. I grew to love the MCs at about the same pace they fell for each other. As each angry layer was peeled away you began to see how history had shaped their relationship and their lives.
I was soon rooting for them and wanted them to get together SO badly.
Their relationship was steamy and gorgeous. Their sexy encounters were complimented by heartfelt scenes and I actually loved how gorgeous they both were. I'm usually put off by characters who are so good looking, but Komal Kant totally sold these two to me.
I have already got Falling for Hadie (Book 2) on my and am going to start reading it as soon as I've finished writing this review. Super excited!!
If you like contemporary romance with edgy, sexy characters then this book is TOTALLY worth checking out.
Luca is such a wonderful, sweet, and caring person. I like Ashton but she has a tendency to worry too much what others think of her. But I can understand to some degree, she's scared people will all eventually leave her. This book definitely shows that appearances do not speak for the people. Luca and his friends are the Rockers and do not fit into what the popular people think they should look like. They want to be individuals and they do not care that they do not fit into others views. Everyone thinks they are troublemakers and devil worshippers because of what they look like but they aren't, they are some of the most caring people there are. The popular and supposedly beautiful people are not what they should be. They only care about thinking they are above everyone else and belittling others to make them feel better. Even when Oliver does he what he does and he's supposed to be popular and great, it just shows that appearances aren't always correct. Luca is a Rocker and has tattoos and wears black alot but he really cares and he loves Ashton with everything in him. His best friend and drummer, Eddie, is a great person and he is so perceptive. This was a really good book.
While I liked this book, I really didn't think it was anything to write home about. It follows one of your standard cliché story-line of a boy and a girl who used to be friends who had a falling out. Years later they are on different rings of the social ladder. Ashton is at the top, while Luca is not. Unfortunately for Ashton, she tumbles down the ladder. In an effort to get back on top, she makes a deal with her old friend Luca (who recently changed his appearance, who knew he was so HOT?) to pretend to date. This whole setup or similar setups have been done over and over. Of course, the deal doesn't go as planned and everyone learns a life lesson or two.
Now that the whole setup is taken care of...I did like both of the main characters. You follow BOTH Ashton and Luca' POVs. I like that you get to see what each of the characters are thinking. I liked the overall feel of the book as well. Towards the beginning whenever the characters were giving their inner thoughts, I almost felt like I was watching a reality TV show or documentary, where the person is sitting in front of the camera and directly talking to the audience.
I might recommend this to someone looking for a nice, quick, easy chick lit type of read.
